Paediatric Screening for Hearing and Large Motor Skills
The latest screening day on Saturday 30th May 2026 was a great success at our new venue, St. Mary's primary school. 46 small people under 6 years old were tested and advice given if required.
The venue was a great place to hold this project, and the day went very smoothly. Many thanks to St, Mary's for their generous use of their premises.
Of 46 tested
- 30 passed in audiology, 9 were referred to their medical practitioners for a check of the health of their middle ears and 7 were unable to be assessed or had results that suggested a permanent hearing problem. These were recommended immediate diagnostic audiology.
- 5 were referred on for further investigation following their physiotherapy tests.
The students gained valuable learning from working with small children. and communicating with the parents. They also had the opportunity to compare notes with a different group of students.
Thanks to those Rotary members who helped out, the Bayside City Council who did all the booking, and Melbourne University Teachers and students. This would not happen without them.
