Paediatric Screening for Hearing and Large Motor Skills
Once again, Hampton has run another very successful screening project.
We are very appreciative of all the help from the various parties involved. St, Mary’s Primary School, in Holyrood St. Hampton, once again, very generously provided their attractive premises.
Each child is accompanied by a parent who has made a booking through Bayside City Council’s Family Services department, who advertised to Bayside’s preschools and on their website and managed the bookings,
Importantly, Melbourne University’s Departments of Audiology and Physiotherapy provide the students. and supervisors. Club members provided their time on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly once again.
The testing results showed the value of running such a program, which proved a number of children require further help. Children are screened for hearing, and large motor skills which involve catching, throwing & kicking a soft ball slightly smaller than a basketball.
Hampton Rotary have been carrying out the very popular hearing screening very successfully for 14 years and are delighted to continue this valuable community project. Melbourne University is keen to get their students involved in community work and to have the opportunity to work with small children and students from other faculties.
