School Awards
Supporting youth development and leadership, the Rotary Club of Hampton has collaborated with local schools to provide awards for Resilience as well as the annual Friendship awards.
Hampton Primary School Friendship Awards
This is the Club's longest continuing award which commenced in 1997. It is awarded to two year 5 students at the end of their year 5 whereby they become the school's Friendship Leaders for the following year.
The two Leaders are elected by their peers and must show the principles of kindness, responsibility, fairness, friendship and acceptance by their peers. They receive a congratulatory certificate and a book voucher from the Club and their names are displayed on the Honour Board for all to see during their final year at school.
St Mary's Friendship Leaders' Award
This Award was first presented at St Mary's Primary School in 2000. It is awarded to two year 6 students who are elected by their peers and must show the principles of kindness, responsibility, fairness, friendship and acceptance by their peers.
Each receives a congratulatory certificate and a book voucher from Hampton Rotary and their names are displayed on the Honour Board for all to see.
Berendale Secondary School Resilience Award
This Award is presented by Hampton Rotary to a student at Berendale, a special school for students with mild disabilities in Hampton East. The winner is nominated by staff and selected on the basis of showing resilience in setting and attaining goals, participating in both sport and career development and with having a strong work ethic.
Award was first presented by the Rotary Club of Hampton in 2010 and is presented to a 'Year 11' student who has impressed the Head and staff by their ability to work through problems and learn how to apply themselves to realise true and improved outcomes for both themself and those around them.
The Award is presented to a student who will be entering their final year at Berendale in the next year. This is done so that the student and their peers can see the student's name on the Honour Board throughout their final year. It is a significant achievement and the winner should be extremely proud of their effort in gaining this Award. The Club presents the winner with a congratulatory letter and a gift voucher from JB HiFi.
