An off-beat romantic comedy, Love Song by John Kolvenbach concerns a small family – the ruthless and uptight businesswoman Joan, her mentally ill and oddball brother, Beane and Joan’s husband, Harry. Following a burglary in his apartment, Joan is baffled to find her brother blissfully happy and tries to unravel the story behind Beane’s mysterious new love, Molly. This romantic comedy explores the infectious effect of love and the redemptive power of hope. Love Song opened at the New Ambassadors Theatre, London in December 2006 and was nominated for the 2007 Olivier Award for best new comedy.

YOUTH and EDUCATION PROJECTS
Berendale School Resilience Award
|
Hampton Rotary has been presenting the Resilience Award at Berendale School in Hampton East since 2010. It is awarded to a Year 11 student who has impressed the Head and staff by showing resilience every day at school.
This year's winner is Matthew Sharp. His citation states that he has made a valiant effort this year in improving his attendance at school and played a significant role in contributing to community and school projects including helping to run a triathlon for years 10 & 11 and attending Urban Camp.
|
His determination and positive attitude have not only helped him to overcome obstacles but has also set remarkable examples for his peers. His resilience, determination and tenacity has undoubtedly paved the way for a successful year ahead.
Matthew received a congratulatory letter and a $50.00 JB HiFi voucher from Geoff Tickner at the school's final assembly for the year. Matthew's name has been added to the Honour Board for all to see in his final year at the school.

December Christmas Bayside Farmers’ Market - Saturday 23rd December
What a year….and what a market to finish off 2023!
Big thanks to everyone who came out to make our December Christmas Bayside Farmers Market such a great event.
Thanks to Santa who was a fantastic hit with the little & big kids alike (thank you Arran Ferguson), Santa’s helpers ( Imogen & Melissa), Santa’s sleigh driver Arron (and BMW for the loan of Santa’s sleigh), the amazing Vocally Wild Choir (thank you to Russell and his choristers) for sing-alongs to Christmas carols, YarraVillains who had us dancing & prancing to Christmas jingles….& of course, the wonderful stallholders who put on a Christmas spread for us all.
Congratulations also to the winners of our hampers, and thanks to everyone who bought raffle tickets to help support vulnerable families in Bayside.
What a great way to finish off this year. Thank you to all the amazing Bayside community who have supported us throughout the year…we are so very grateful.
We’re looking forward to be back in January at our next market, so we hope to see you there.
Beach Clean Sunday 7th January
The first beach clean of the new year is held traditionally at Green Point. It was a fine day, although the wind whipped up making it more challenging to get the small plastics into our bags.
There was evidence of New Year’s celebrations in the rubbish we collected – as well as beach going artefacts. The collection included a beach towel, toys, shoes, flags & water container from an event, as well as materials from ‘poppers’ and coloured foil streamers.
Next Bayside Farmers’ Market – Saturday 27th January
Over the Australia Day weekend, you’ll discover the January Bayside Farmers Market, coming up on Saturday 27th January, 8am-1pm at Trey Bit Reserve (Jetty Road), Sandringham. What a great way to enjoy the long weekend, with 60+ market stalls featuring seasonal fresh produce direct from the farm, gourmet and artisan foods and beverages, take-away food, drinks & coffees, and live music…all at a fabulous beachside location…..…so get your family and friends together and join in this fantastic community event!
