From the President

The club is hoping the weather will be kinder to us for our next Farmers market on 26 November - a big thank you to our volunteers and patrons for braving the storms at the October market.

We will be seeking your input into our consultation on how we can support Bayside through our community grants and I look forward to chatting with you at the market.

We are planning for our December market - this will be on Christmas Eve and  we are organising Santa and his helpers to join us, a Christmas raffle and fantastic stalls.

Regards

Amanda

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Fundraising Concert for Ukrainian Displaced Persons

The Bayside Community concert for Ukraine displaced people was held on Sunday 23rd October at St Leonard's College and was attended by over 350 people. A fantastic event organised by Brighton North Rotary and supported by Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham and Beaumaris.

Over $20,000 was raised which was a wonderful outcome from this joint Rotary event.

Hampton Beach Cleaning

The November beach clean at Small Street (End of Ramp) on Sunday 6th of November was very well attended with participants enjoying a beautiful sunny spring morning.  18kg of plastics were collected, mostly from the tide line.  It included 7 syringes and > 100 straws.  Lots of rubbish had washed up on the beach with the rains forcing the plastics into the sea.

On Cup day another group were doing a beach clean and collected a whopping 50kg!

Next beach clean will be at Green Point on Sunday 4th December, 9-10am.

October Bayside Farmers’ Market

Rain, hail or shine – that’s our motto for the monthly Bayside Farmers’ Market…and everyone was certainly put to the test as the storms came through Melbourne and whipped through the market on Saturday 22 October. But that didn’t deter our stallholders, who as always, smiled and got on with the business of serving up a fantastic range of produce for the market patrons who braved the weather. Thanks to all the stallholders and volunteers and the dedicated patrons who supported the market despite the atrocious conditions this month.

Bayside Family Christmas Event 2022

Once again, after a few years impacted by COVID, the ever popular Bayside Family Christmas Event is happening on Wednesday 14th December, to spread some Christmas cheer and connections for disadvantaged Bayside families.

This event is a true community collaboration, jointly organized by the Rotary Clubs of Brighton and Hampton, together with Hampton RSL, BayCISS, Family Life, Victoria Police, TeamSports4All, and supported by Bayside City Council.

Hampton Rotary are very excited to once again be involved and this year will be contributing towards gifts for the children from Santa, as well as volunteering on the day to help with the set-up and organisation of this event

Next Bayside Farmers’ Market – Saturday 26th November

The next Bayside Farmers’ Market is coming up on Saturday 26th November. We’d love to see you at the market at Trey Bit Reserve Sandringham from 8am-1pm.

At this November market, Hampton Rotary will be donating it’s proceeds from entry gate donations towards Christmas Gifts for the children at the Bayside Christmas Family Event.
