From the President

I am delighted to present my first report as President for 2022-2023 following our changeover on 28 June 2022. Thank you to Liz Ware, our secretary for organising a great night at Our Casa restaurant in Hampton  and it was wonderful to catch up with many of our members and guests and say thank you to past President Peter Read for guiding us through the last year.

We still have Covid with us however the club is excited about the year ahead, We will be running a community consultation to identify potential projects, continue working through the details on commencing a hearing screening project in Tonga and collaborating with our Rotary clubs  to deliver youth mental health programs.

I look forward to sharing our club news with you each month.

Regards

Amanda

July 2022 Club News

Recent Events

Club Meeting June 21st - Guest Speaker Mark Anderson – Senior Coordinator for The Rotary Foundation at South Pacific and Philippines Office, member of RC Beecroft, NSW.

Mark introduced the concept of The Rotary Foundation Community Assessment and membership engagement tool which helps to identify relevant opportunities for community projects.

This tool is available on My Rotary and can be tailored for individual clubs. The benefits include understanding of community dynamics, help with making decisions about service priorities, building valuable relationships, and encouraging community participation.

He told us how his own club, Rotary Club of Beecroft had used the process to identify local community needs and to  implement programs which resonated with the local community and helped attract new and diverse members and increased member engagement.

The process is under consideration by our board and members.

Changeover June 28th at Our Casa Restaurant, Hampton St.

In true RC Hampton style, we enjoyed a relaxed and casual Changeover dinner. Lindsay Morgan set the tone as MC and made sure the evening ran smoothly. We were pleased to welcome our new District Governor Ken Miller, Past District Governor Daryl Moran and Jenny and District Governor Elect Ian Ballantine and Helen.

2021/2022 President Peter Read summed up the year and thanked all members for their contributions over the year. He then presented incoming 2022/2023 President, Amanda Hill with the Presidential Chain of Office.

On behalf of the Board, Daryl presented Peter with a PHF for his year as President and for his work on the Tonga Project. He also presented the Club with a District Award for PR and Communications. Well done Christine Lindsay and Lou Rodriquez.

Our thanks must go to Our Casa for opening the restaurant especially for the night when our original venue fell through.

June Bayside Farmers' Market

It was a food lovers delight at the June market. Everyone was out and about enjoying the beautiful sunny morning, shopping for fresh produce and gourmet goods as well as tucking into treats from the take away food and drink stands….and as always, enjoying the great community vibe.

Thanks to all the stallholders and volunteers for ensuing another fabulous market, and all the community who came out to support the market.

The Bayside Farmers Market will be back again on Saturday 23rd July and we’ll look forward to seeing everyone again then.
