Club Activity - Tuesday 3rd December – Visit to St Kilda Mums, Clayton
Hampton Rotary members visited the St Kilda Mums warehouse in Clayton and were given a tour of their facilities.
Thanks so much to Karen and Lisa for showing us around and sharing the St Kilda Mums story. St Kilda Mums is an amazing organisation which recycles nursery equipment including cots, prams and car seats, as well as clothes and other baby essentials. They give the items to people who are facing a variety of challenges and want them to feel uplifted when they receive something from them.
After the tour, Rotary members who attended were then invited to volunteer some time to pack nappy bags as well as toiletry items that will be distributed to needy mums before Xmas. Special thanks to Rhonda Pincott who also sourced some donated toiletry items that were also included in these special packs. Also, a special shout out to Amanda Skillet and Marie Anderson who brought along amazing food and beverages to share with members on this special outing.
Our visit to St Kilda Mums was a great opportunity to take part in a community project that we can see delivers significant assistance and support to needy families. Thank you for the opportunity to be involved.

Bayside Family Christmas Event - Tuesday 17th December
Hampton Rotary, in conjunction with Brighton Rotary and Hampton RSL, with the support of Bayside Police and Bayside Council and many other supporters across Bayside, hosted the Bayside Family Christmas event for Bayside kids and carers. Families with pre- and school aged kids (Under 16 years old) were invited to join in some fun with craft activities, face-painting, games (lawn bowls, Jenga, ball games etc), followed by a traditional Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa (bearing gifts for the kids).
A big thank you goes to all of the supporters and donors for this year’s event including: Bendigo Bank Highett Community Bank Branch, BayCISS, ConnectHealth, Family Life, Country Womens Association, Bunnings, St Leonards College, Rossdale EP Group, and Vic Police (Bayside and Moorabbin members).
There were many hours of behind-the-scenes work in the lead-up to making this event such as huge success, and special mention goes to Hampton Rotary’s Rhonda Pincott who did an amazing job this year.

School Friendship Captains Announced for 2020
During the month of December, Geoff Tickner attended local primary schools to announce the upcoming School Friendship Captains and Resiliance Awards for 2020.
Hampton Primary School Friendship Captains for 2020.
The Hampton Primary School Friendship Captains for 2020 were announced at the school assembly on 10 December. The Captains are Willow Hunt and Paddy Wilson. Each receives a $50.00 book voucher, a Hampton Rotary Friendship Award sticker for insertion in their book selection and a congratulatory letter from the Club.
The Captains are elected by their peers who are asked to vote for a student who they believe best represents the characteristics of kindness, responsibility, fairness, friendship and acceptance by others. Their names have been added to the Honour Board for all to see now and in the future.
At the end of their year as Friendship Captains, Willow and Paddy will be invited to attend a Club meeting and outline their experiences throughout the year.
Berendale School Resilience Award for 2019.
Geoff Tickner announced that Waqas Khan was the recipient of the 2019 Resilience Award for Berendale School at their assembly on 13 December. Waqar received a congratulatory letter together with a $50.00 JB HiFi voucher. His name has been added to the Honour Board.
The recipient of the Resilience Award is always a Year 11 student so that they and fellow students can observe their name on the Honour Board throughout their final year at the school. The Resilience Award is awarded to a student who in the opinion of staff has set and achieved goals to overcome their difficulties, participated in all school activities and readily assists and encourages others.
