Fund Raiser for End Polio Now

A Huge Success!

What a fantastic turnout we had in support of the movie night fundraiser for the Rotary End Polio Now campaign.

Hampton, Sandringham and Beaumaris Rotary Clubs all joined forces to support this fundraising evening. We had 120 Rotarians, family and friends turn out to the Bohemian Rhapsody Film evening. Everyone had a really enjoyable night and we raised $979 for the Eradication of Polio. Thank you to everyone who came along to support this very worthwhile event and fundraiser!

New Club Website NOW LIVE

We now have a whole new look as a club with the club website going live for general consumption. We are still to complete the members section, so please access the site and keep informed of all the club’s activities and news.

Bayside Farmers Market 17 November

It was a beautiful day for the Farmers Market, the Bayside Police were inundated with excited children sitting in a squad car, turning on the flashing lights and sounding the siren.

Derryn Nigel Hinch, Australian Senator for Victoria also visited the market spending time speaking with the stall holders and the public.

We also hosted the Lions Club of Sandringham to offer their Christmas cakes and puddings.

Special Guest Speaker Peter Jackson

We were privileged to have Peter Jackson, CEO of the Melbourne Football Club from 2013 to 2018, to speak to us on how he rebuilt the Club with strong leadership and teamwork, and how this paved the way for the Club's turnaround in financial fortunes and a finals performance for the Demons this year.

Club Meeting 27 November

Winners of the School Friendship Captains Awards spoke to us about how they are leading and providing support in their local school community. Friendship Awards are presented by Hampton Rotary to a Year 5 boy and girl selected by their peers as being the most friendly and helpful to other students.

These roles are voted on at the end of the prior year and they become Friendship Leaders in their school for the coming year. In their roles as Friendship Leaders, these students initiate projects within their schools which they perceive as being beneficial to their fellow students. The students, accompanied by their parents, addressed the Club on their activities as Friendship Leaders as they now come to the end of their Friendship year.

Also joining us was our RYPEN representative.

International Projects Update

Timor L'Este Update

Timor L’Este Project To Provide Clean Water Now Entering New Phase!

The project in Hatu Balico in Timor L’Este to replace the water systems in three villages is now getting closer to the construction phase.  Final surveying and the organisation of the village management groups has now been completed.  Most of the construction material has been purchased and now needs to be transported to the three villages so work can commence.  This has been slightly delayed due to the main road being reconstructed and therefore not suitable for the truck being used to transport the sand. However, progress is being made, which is great to see.

St Kilda Mums

Club Activity to help St Kilda Mums – Tuesday 4th December

After the compelling talk in October from Danielle from St Kilda Mums, we all became totally inspired to act! The Club has committed to put together a number of “Pamper Packs” for disadvantaged mothers and we will do this as a club activity project on Tuesday 4th December. We will all put together a range of basic toiletries (funded by the Club) and then send these to the team at St Kilda Mums who will distribute to needy mums! This is a fantastic project that will make a real difference to disadvantaged women, especially in the lead-up to Christmas. Ensure you come along to participate in this very worthwhile project!

At the meeting on December 4, members are also asked to bring a reusable supermarket bag full of Christmas goodies to be distributed by the Salvation Army. This tradition has been operating for many years.

Bayside Farmers Market 15 December

Bayside Farmers’ Market – 15 December

Come along to our final Bayside Farmers’ Market for the year. This is always a great event, with stallholders getting into the Christmas spirit, selling lots of gourmet goodies…and with a visit from a “very special person”…..Santa!!

Bayside Christmas Family Event

Bayside Family Christmas Event - Tuesday 17th December

Hampton Rotary, in conjunction with Brighton Rotary and Hampton RSL, with the support of Bayside Police and Bayside Council and many other supporters across Bayside, hosted the Bayside Family Christmas event for Bayside kids and carers. Families with pre- and school aged kids (Under 16 years old) were invited to join in some fun with craft activities, face-painting, games (lawn bowls, Jenga, ball games etc), followed by a traditional Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa (bearing gifts for the kids).

A big thank you goes to all of the supporters and donors for this year’s event including: Bendigo Bank Highett Community Bank Branch, BayCISS, ConnectHealth, Family Life, Country Womens Association, Bunnings, St Leonards College, Rossdale EP Group, and Vic Police (Bayside and Moorabbin members).

There were many hours of behind-the-scenes work in the lead-up to making this event such as huge success, and special mention goes to Hampton Rotary’s Rhonda Pincott who did an amazing job this year.
